How Diplomatiko's Transcript GPA Calculator Works
Diplomatiko's AI-powered GPA Calculator lets you analyze your transcript for free.
Upload a scanned or digital transcript (PDF, JPG, or PNG – max 4MB), and our system will automatically extract courses, credits, grades, and terms — even from multilingual or handwritten documents.
Use the free demo to extract up to 15 academic records. For full report access and advanced features, upgrade to Premium.
In this demo version, up to 15 academic records can be extracted. The number of successfully extracted records may vary depending on document clarity, structure, and language.
Once extracted, our international GPA calculator maps your native grading system to the U.S. 4.0 GPA scale. Here's how it works:
Step 1: Grade Conversion
We first convert your grades into their closest U.S. equivalents. For example:
Original Grade |
U.S. Equivalent |
90 (China) |
A |
85 |
B |
80 |
B |
Step 2: GPA Scale Conversion
Then, U.S. grades are mapped to grade points:
U.S. Grade |
Points |
A |
4.0 |
B |
3.0 |
C |
2.0 |
D |
1.0 |
F |
0.0 |
We support more granular conversions (e.g., A-, B+, AB, etc.) for a more accurate GPA reflection.
Step 3: GPA Calculation
Each course's points are multiplied by its credit or hour value, summed, and divided by the total credits:
Course |
Credits |
Grade |
Points |
Math |
3 |
A |
12.0 |
Science |
3 |
B |
9.0 |
History |
2 |
B |
6.0 |
Total Points: 27.0
Total Credits: 8
Cumulative GPA: 3.38
Note on Weighted GPAs
Some U.S. schools use weighted GPA scales (e.g., up to 5.0 for honors or AP courses). Diplomatiko defaults to unweighted GPA for international consistency, but advanced users may upgrade to the Premium version for custom weighting.
